
If you’re in a mental health crisis or just need someone to talk to, help is available.
If you or someone you know is in immediate danger or unable to stay safe, attend your nearest A&E department or dial 999 for an ambulance.
If you’re not in immediate danger but still need urgent support:
- Contact NHS 111. Dial 111 and and select option 2 when prompted to access the 24/7 mental health helpline.
- Call your GP practice to request an emergency appointment
If you don’t need urgent support but need someone to talk to:
- Mind – Call the Mind Support Line on 0300 102 1234. Lines open 9am – 6pm Monday to Friday (except bank holidays).
- Samaritans – Call Samaritans on 116 123. Lines open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year
- SANE – Call SANEline on 0300 304 7000. Lines open 4:30pm to 10pm every day.
- Suicide Prevention UK – Call the Suicide Prevention UK Helpline on 0800 587 0800.
If you’d rather not talk on the phone:
- Text ‘SHOUT’ to 85258. Shout offers a confidential 24/7 text services for people in crisis needing urgent help.
- Contact CALM through their webchat service – CALM Webchat
- Email Samaritans at [email protected] (email responses may take several days)
